Whirlin' Waterpark Fun

Most Charlestonians know at this point that summer brings with it a little heat and humidity. If you are traveling to town, you probably came here hoping for warmth, so, no surprises there either. There are certain days within the summer months that the heat gives us a great excuse to go live in the water. Shoot, I'd be happy to live in the water with or without an excuse. Thankfully Charleston has some great options for that...the beach, the Intracoastal, the estuaries, and creeks.

If you are looking for some fun in the water that may be outside your normal box of thought, a Charleston waterpark is a mighty decent place to spend a day with friends or family. I recently had the opportunity to visit Whirlin' Waters with a close friend and her kids (my godchildren). During our time we lived it up in the wave pool, conquered some water sliding fears, noshed on some tasty pizza, and remembered that at any age, water slides can make you scream like a kid.

Odyssey Stand Up Paddle Tours

AN OVERVIEW

Guests will enjoy an hour long Eco Tour of Shem Creek via Stand Up Paddle board. The guide will give instruction to any newcomers to the sport and provide all the necessary equipment including board, paddle, and PFD. Guests will cruise through the tranquil water while learning about the history and ecosystem of Shem Creek. Smaller watercraft such as SUPs are often so quiet that indigenous mammals and birds in the area will stay where they are unaffected by visitors. Guests often see dolphins, manatees, pelicans, and other birds on the tour.

Banana Boat Rides

AN OVERVIEW

Banana Boat rides are a great way for a family or group of friends to cool off and enjoy the water. The rides last approximately 30 minutes and can accomodate up to 6 paasengers per run. This is a unique attraction and just plain fun. Not everyone can say they've had the thrill of skimming across the water on a giant high-speed banana!

Without a doubt, the best memory of our trip!!! Our driver had so much personality and kept us all in stitches while providing fantastic historical information about our route. He was friendly, approachable, and very knowledgeable. We will book a carriage tour again on our next trip.
