ATTRACTIONS
Magnolia Plantation and Gardens: The grounds at Magnolia are an optimal place for a pup. Dogs are allowed in the garden area and can ride on the Nature Tram with their owners. If the dog is small enough to be carried through the house, the House Tour is an option as well.
Palmetto Carriage Works: The barn is already full of animals. What's one more? Dogs can ride along with their owners on this hour long tour of the historic district. Smaller dogs are able to sit on their owner's lap, while larger dogs can make themselves comfortable sitting on the floor board of the carriage. Dogs are able to ride with owners on group or private tours. It is of course advisable to make efforts to care for the dog's water and bathroom needs before the tour starts, as it is an hour long without any bathroom breaks.
Coastal Expeditions: Take your pooch for a paddle with you. It is wise if your dog doesn't mind the water. Contact Coastal Expeditions for more information. Tell them Traveling Ink sent you.
COUNTY PARKS
Parks: Charleston County Parks are a popular place for dog owners. There are off-leash dog parks located at James Island County Park, Palmetto Islands County Park (Mt. Pleasant), and Wannamaker County Park (North Charleston). Park rules and "petiquette" can be found by clicking here.
