Burundi Partnership

In 2008, I'd never heard of the country of Burundi. In 2009, I traveled there with a group of high school students and church members. We helped build mud-brick houses, volunteered at an orphanage, and ran a youth camp in the capital city of Bujumbura. Along the way, we learned more about the history and the people of the second poorest nation on earth. I feel privileged today to call some of those people my friends, and I am eager to let other people know about the great work that is happening there now as a result of some fantastic organizations those friends have poured their hearts into. Great Lakes Outreach, Youth for Christ, and Harvest for Christ are three organizations partnering together to meet the extreme physical and spiritual needs of a country ravaged by twelve years of civil war and abject poverty. A smile on the face of a Burundian citizen is inspiring, and I hope in the years to come, they will have more and more reasons to smile.

Giving Back

In creating Traveling Ink, I have been given access to a unique audience of people. Just as I care about the recommendations I give visitors to this site, I care about the overall content Traveling Ink is providing as well. As such, I saw an opportunity to share information about some great organizations and nonprofits who are giving back in the Charleston community and around the world. So, Traveling Ink will be highlighting some of those organizations on a rotating basis and providing information about their events, fundraising opportunities, and ways to give back.

My hat is off to all of the folks serving in different ways in the southest and beyond. I encourage you to check out the information posted on the organizations in the giving back category and see how you can get connected.

Client Testimonials

  • A Charleston resident suggested a Traveling Ink concierge might be able to help me. It didn’t take long for me to realize that this was one of the best pieces of advice I could have received. My friends thought I was an organizational wizard even though I kept telling them it was Traveling Ink, not me.

  • We so enjoyed our time in Charleston. Thank you for all your insight! I am recommending your services to everyone I know who is traveling to Charleston!

  • Traveling Ink planned the three full days we would have in Charleston, how we would get from one place to another, places to eat, and what the costs would be. To add to the challenge, we had to change the day of one of the main attractions because rain had been predicted. They handled all the changes with out missing a step.

    ~ Harriett H.
  • These Charleston pros do a phenomenal job in any setting. Audra was our point person and is a pleasure to work with. She is laid back and can work with any request.
