AN OVERVIEW

There are certain trips and adventures that ask for, and sometimes demand, certain gear before they can begin. It is hard to go backpacking without a good pack and difficult to paddle without, well, a paddle. For those times when adventurers need supplies, we want a full featured, knowledgeable retailer to take care of us. REI fits the bill well.

 

PERSONAL EXPERIENCE

I've been a member of REI since 2009. They are an exceptional outfitter with a unique quality. They are the United State's largest consumer cooperative, which means that the members (ie. the shoppers) have a real impact on the company. They have supplied me with everything from backpacks to first aid kits to fruit chews, and were one of the most helpful resources when planning and equipping myself for my trip to Burundi in 2009. They also win brownie points for donating hours of time and millions of dollars to conservation efforts each year.
